The Managing Directors of Pierce have been officers of medium-sized growth companies. Their direct participation in the operation of these companies enables them to identify and understand clients' problems and challenges. In addition, Pierce maintains an Advisory Board that is comprised of accomplished scientists, engineers, and business executives who have both domestic and international experience. Members of the Board consult with Pierce's staff on various client engagements. The Board assists in the review of clients' processes and products, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, performance level and competitive posture. From this review, Pierce is able to define a company's ability to finance expansion or consolidation. Pierce thus provides sophisticated international technical and financial advice generally available only at larger investment banking firms.

Pierce specializes in four broad areas: telecommunications and media, enterprise software, IT, and renewable energy. When engaged in financing in these areas, Pierce's team includes a Managing Director who specializes in the field, backed by a group of technical specialists and advisers.
